I am on the move in every direction.
First of all, I’ve moved g27 from Greymatter to WordPress, a far superior content management system. I’ve also created a nice new title image for the site. Do you like? I like. I have yet to redesign the bottom half of the site, but it will be inline with my green-on-black style. I have been way too busy to work on the site, because…
I’m moving out of Julian and into my own apartment in Capitol Hill (or Cap Hill, as we locals call it)! Bob and I had gone searching for 2-bedroom apartments to live in, and didn’t really find any we loved. That outing kind of started the launch-sequence in my head… and that sequence doesn’t have the cool turn-two-keys-at-once-termination-code, either… I have to get my own place! So, I did a bunch of Craigslist searching and found a great place. I went and checked it out and loved it, showed the Craigslist ad to Paul and he goes “Dude, that’s the place that Alden was thinking about buying a few months ago!” Which is really crazy. He almost bought the place directly across the hall from mine. I emailed him to tell him about it – Paul said that Morgan (Alden’s girlfriend) was mad that Alden didn’t buy the place because she loves the building and is going to be very jealous and want to come over all the time. No matta, my place is open to everyone!
So, I’m working 9-5 downtown so I’ve been very busy and don’t have a ton of time to move. I’ve been taking loads of stuff each night over there, and this weekend I’m getting my parents’ old couches and my old dresser. Hooray! My new place is gonna be sick. I’ll take some pictures as soon as I’ve got it lookin’ nice.
And, on a much more exciting note, I finally stopped telling myself to do standup comedy and I actually did it. A few weeks ago I went to this new club owned by a friend of Paul’s called the Orange Cat to see 5 standup comedians for $5 – and they were great! I talked to one of them after the show and he said I should come down and do some standup on Tuesday nights at the bar that he hosts the open mic at, The Squire. So, I prepared some material, went up and did my thing – and it went great! Half the crowd wasn’t there for the show, they were on the far side of the bar talking, but the people that were there for the show and listening really liked me. I got laughs on all my punchlines and even some lines I didn’t expect to land the way they did.
I’m so excited! I’m gonna keep writing material and polishing my act at the Squire, then go to ComedyWorks, which is the biggest venue in Denver.
If you are a g27 fan in Colorado, let me know and I’ll tell you when I’m performing next! Also, check out my new best of the best gallery, featuring some of my favorite shots I’ve taken in the last few months. Lemme know what you think!
