My Greymatter was screwed up forever, and I had to do a full reinstall, but everything is back to normal. Sorry for the delay, Gees!
Oh how I love rock and roll.
To The Rescue has been practicing a lot, and we’ve got some great new material. I absolutely love making music with my friends… it’s easily one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. I get to turn on my speakers and hit Play… and I like what I hear. And that’s me, Jon, and Jonny coming through those speakers. It’s the weirdest feeling… I’ve been listening to music since I was 10, and now the one I hear through my headphones is my friends and I. We’ve been doing lots of little acoustic recordings on my computer in my room, so they’re not the highest quality… but once we have some more semi-finished acoustic stuff, I’ll post em up here. We do have one new song you can listen to. It’s called Bottle Rocket and I wrote it for my friend Meg. It’s a full electric song with drums, but we can only do acoustic in my room, so that’s what you get. You can go listen here:

The other night Jon and I went to see a killer show -Matchbook Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Taking Back Sunday. I’m not a huuuge fan of Matchbook Romance, I like em, but more importantly, Jon used to play in a band with a guy who is now their tour manager… so we get in free/backstage to all their shows! Last time we saw them, we went out to dinner with them. Such nice dudes… I can’t wait til we play shows and we’re not assholes like most rockers are. The show kicked ass, I wanted to see Fall Out Boy the most… they’re my hometown boys. They live around 10 minutes away from my house in Chicago, so we’re all representing like rockers should. Thug Life! Ok. Matchbook kicked ass as always, and Fall Out Boy was NUTS on stage, running around and jumping off shit and spinning guitars – ok, that last one was not executed to perfection. The guitarist spun his guitar around his shoulder, the strap broke, and the guitar flew across the stage and nailed Pete (the bassist) in the head. Dude got TAGGED. He got up and was ok, and continued the show like a champ.
I don’t love Taking Back Sunday’s music, I like it, but I don’t listen to them regularly. I really couldn’t wait for them to come out so I could see Adam do his crazy mic tricks I had only seen from afar at the Warped Tour. My GOD does he own that mic. He throws the cord around his neck and catches it just close enough to his mouth to sing, he ties it around his arm and grabs it behind his back, throws it out over the crowd and then yanks it back… the man has skills. I talked to him after the show, really nice dude. He said it took a lot of practice but he was just kind of screwing around when he found out he could do it.
We gave our demo to the drummer of Fall Out Boy, and talked to everyone else in each band (except the opener, they kinda sucked) about getting it from him and checking out our recorded stuff. Hopefully we’ll get a call. Oh yeah! I almost forgot…!
We were standing next to the stage on these stairs that lead to sidestage right, and the security guard told everyone to get off them, they needed to move equipment. Fine, that’s cool. We stayed at the bottom and chilled while they did that. This one kid wouldn’t leave the stairs and the security guard said “Get down there, kid!” and he wouldn’t so he kinda escorted him down and said “Watch out, this kid pissed himself.” It was obvious he did, he wouldn’t turn away from the stairs so no one could see the giant pee stain on the front of his jeans. He went off the stairs after a lot of yelling and stood in front of the barricade. The guard said “Get behind that. That’s it – when I come back, you better be gone.” So the kid moved back a little. When the guard came back, he said one last time “Get the hell back into the crowd, I don’t want you near these stairs.” The kid walked up the stairs to yell at the security guard, and all we saw was the security guard’s giant arm come out of the door leading to outside at the top of the stairs and YANK the sucker outside and kick his ass out of the venue. HILARIOUS. Ah, rock n roll.
